Bhumisparsha was known as Earth touching Buddha It is said that on the eve of his awakening, the Buddha experience doubt in the form of demon, Mara, who challenge his qualifications to sit on the diamond throne(Vajrasana) where all previous Buddha has gain enlightenment. In respond Buddha touch the earth with his right hand, calling earth goddess to bare witness to his practice over countless lives.
